White Square Course Rep Award Winners 2013
Every year, hundreds of students volunteer to represent their group as Course Reps. For the first time, we are rewarding some of the very best Course Reps across UAL for their commitment, kindness and imagination. Judged by the full-time Elected Officers, these twelve White Square Course Rep Award winners epitomise the selflessness and ingenuity of students looking out for each other.

Trophies for the White Square Teaching Awards in production. Designed and built by Abay Zhumagulov and Marcus Kane, winners of our trophy design competition and current BA students at CSM.
We wanted to create something visually interesting as well as tactile for the receiver. A wooden core is surrounded by cement, creating the white square award logo on the top and bottom, while also creating something dynamically visual. We also wanted a texture on half of the award to represent the two different sides to teaching, the rough and the smooth.

The Students’ Union are looking for creative and dedicated students to join our team as Nomination Assistants for the Teaching and Course Rep Awards Roadshow.

This exciting opportunity will provide you with valuable experience of working with professionals in arts education, you will help to improve university life - for students and teachers alike.
Throughout April, we will be bringing the White Square Teaching Awards and Course Rep Awards to University of the Arts campuses.
We are looking for Nomination Assistants to encourage students in the nomination process, and help students think critically about their education. Nomination Assistants will also video students giving their thoughts on what makes and exceptional teacher and a useful course rep. After the roadshow, the Nomination Assistant will edit together a video from the footage gathered.
We will ask students to nominate their best tutors and technicians and course reps. The 12 best Teachers and 12 best Course Reps will each be thanked for their dedication, and get a trophy (made by a UAL student). Outstanding nominated Teachers and Course Reps will get a special certificate (designed by a student) as a thank you.
NOMINATION ASSISTANT
14+ hours, spread over April and May in 4 hour lunchtime shifts (we will pay one Nomination Assistant 14 hours editing time to make the video after the roadshow).
£7.21 per hour
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
The Nomination Assistant post would be best suited to a person with an interest in the arts and education. They will be a sociable and outgoing person who can engage with other students in a supportive manner. You must have a working knowledge of shooting and editing video. A practical, creative problem solver is essential. People who are engaged in their courses are preferred, as we suspect that enthusiasm is contagious.
